How lucky am I to be a coffee obsessed gal living in one of the greatest coffee city in the world? I figured it was about time to do a post about one of my great obsessions, coffee! It’s also a great way to start my “Dine In” series. These coffee shops are a few of my favorites, some I visit frequently and new ones I’ve recently discovered. Before I go to a new place or want to find a new place to try I look it up on Yelp to find information about parking, payment methods, ratings, menu, pice range and of course to look at the pictures!
Kaldi’s Social House
Kaldi’s Social House is located in downtown Silver Spring. It has street parking and a parking lot across the street. If you travel by bus or train/metro their is a train station in downtown Silver Spring which is perfect.
Busy but super relaxed. An equally great spot to work on your laptop, meet up with friends or grab a bite to eat. A good coffee house music selection and the friendliest baristas I’ve ever met. A rooftop was recently added and it’s pretty spacious with music playing and also has a bar.
Consists of coffee of course but they also offer breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert, plus beer, wine and cocktails.
Vigilante Coffee is located in the Arts District of Hyattsville, MD. Parking is a bit limited, I have noticed most of their customers walk there but because their local. Nonetheless when I have gone (Saturdays) I have been able to easily find parking.
Peaceful. This is the perfect spot to park with your laptop or catch up with a friend. Perfect coffee shop tunes playing at just the right volume. There front door is a garage door and when the weather gets warmer its usually open and it feels amazing. There is also an outside area in front of the shop.
Offers coffee and tea as well as breakfast. It tends to change but acai fruit bowls are always on the menu.
A Baked Joint
A Baked Joint is located in DC on K St. This shop is a sister shop to Baked & Wire which I will mention next. They don’t have private parking which means you have to look for a garage or park two blocks down the street on the road. The walk isn’t to bad and it’s more affordable than a parking garage.
Busy and loud but cozy. It defiantly gets crowded but it’s worth waiting to try their coffee and biscuits. There are tables as well as couches, I prefer couches for comfortability but if I’m looking to work and bring my laptop I opt for a table.
Coffee, pastries, ice cream and amazing delicious biscuits!
Baked & Wired
Baked & Wired is the sister shop to the one I just mentioned above. However this one is located in Georgetown on Thomas Jefferson St. There is street parking which is limited but you can find more parking down the street.
Bright and live, with very friendly customers and baristas. It’s stays busy but most customers are on the go. The shop is somewhat small, accommodating its customer with two sitting areas where you have both couches and tables to choose from. There is also shelves filled with books that you can read so if you’re a book worm you’ll love this shop.
The standard coffee shop pastry selection (no gluten free choices that I’ve seen).
Sticky Fingers Sweets & Eats
Sticky Fingers Sweets & Treats is located in NW DC, on Park Rd. It’s in between neighborhoods and a shopping center where you will also find restaurants such as &pizza.
TRANSIT: Columbia Heights Metro (Green, Yelow)
Hipster and girlie, as you can see the decor and set up is super adorable. They have vintage appliance which add a unique touch. This is a popular spot and it’s generally fairly busy with a wide variety of people. Free wifi, quirky music selection.
Specialized in egg-and dairy-free dessert and deli foods, all 100% vegan. The menu also offers sandwiches, lasagna, meatless meals, pastries and wedding cakes.
Coffy Cafe is around the corner from Sticky Fingers in DC on 14th St. Also has street parking as well as garage.
TRANSIT: Columbia Heights Metro (Green, Yelow)
Relaxed and welcoming. They were playing some cool vintage tunes at perfect volume and the baristas were friendly.
Offers coffee, tea, smoothies, shakes, bake goods, breakfast all day, crepes, salads, soups, sandwiches, paninis and much more.
Do you have a fave coffee spot in DC? What is it? Don’t live in DC? What’s your favorite coffee spot in your city?
